Fighting For The One

On Monday I had my first cup of coffee in 21 days and it was glorious. This was my first year doing the Daniel fast with my Church and the funny thing was is that my biggest craving wasn't sugar, but chicken, and I haven't eaten meat in 7 years. I wanted to fast because I was hungry for more of God and I wanted to hear from Him in a deeper and fresher way. I realized that God is preparing me for a lot in 2017 and I wanted to posture my heart in a way for Him to move. In the beginning of the fast he gave me this verse "The LORD will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength . You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever flowing spring." - Isaiah 58:11. "Sofia I am making you into a well-watered garden so that you will bring my Gospel to the lost." This is what Jesus said, little did I realize the first thing that God would start with in this garden of my heart is pulling out the weeds. He gave me this vision of all of these flowers and beautiful strong trees that were planted in my heart. He showed me that weeds have been growing around these flowers and trees. Doubt, fear, anxiety, insecurity, the need to feel wanted and accepted by people. All of these things are like weeds in my heart trying to kill my dreams, and the calling that God has placed deep in my heart to share His truth with everyone. As the Lord began to reveal this to me I thought a lot about the women that are going to impacted through Panty Protection Program. Not just the women in Haiti that we are going to but the women here that are helping Shondy and I get there. Before we launched this movement the Lord spoke to me and said that this is going to not only bring salvation to the people in Haiti but also to the people here that are donating funds, buying headbands, helping us collect pads, and fighting for us in prayer. Every person who gives to this in some way is helping us fight for a precious life that we truly believe will be forever changed through something as simple as a pad. In the midst of so much tension in our country and everyone fighting for their "rights" Shondy and I want to be a light and show that we are not fighting for something that is aimless but we are fighting for the salvation of these precious women that have yet to be told they are so loved and so valuable. To us Women's rights means sitting down with the broken and hurting woman and showering them in the love of Christ and showing them that they are so full of worth. This is what we are fighting for. I encourage you all to reflect on your heart and the dreams that God has put inside of you. What weeds are entangling your calling and dreams? What has God gifted you to do but you've allowed fear to make you doubt or run? Ask the Lord to show you these things and to help you. The uprooting process is not fun, I'm in the middle of it so I know. But do not be discouraged, hold fast to the Jesus who poured out His blood for you and loves every single part of you so deeply. He desires to make your precious heart, and faith that is more valuable than gold, into a well watered garden. -Sofia
